Blogging a.k.a. "Phlogging" has been an interesting experience for me. At first I was finding it a bit tedious having to take the extra time out my schedule to post and read other blogs, but now that this is going to be our last posting, there are a variety of bitter sweet feelings that are in the air. Our class postings were insightful and I found that several students and I had a lot in common. It reminded me of one of my art classes. In a sense, having deadlines to create art was difficult and frustrating at times but when it was all said and done, I was grateful that I had a fire under me to stay on task. During both processes of "Phlogging" and creating art, I ran into situations where self-reflection and frustration were at the forefront, but in the end, I appreciate both processess. Online "Phlogging" was a great opportunity for me to engage my fellow classmates, and I really appreciated their comments and suggestions. I also discovered a couple of blogs that were not necessarily part of our class that have been inspiring and helpful.

I'm also going to miss our "mandated phlogging" times. I enjoyed reflecting, writing, reading and responding. It doesn't have to end here, though. I can see the value of continuing on. It will be like keeping a journal of our teaching adventures and reflections. One day, we'll be able to look back and see how far we've come and how we have (hopefully) developed into seasoned and wise teachers, We can then can impart our stories to those who are just starting out. One goal I have now is to not become disillusioned and discouraged over time. I will chose whose blogs to follow based on their optimistic, encouraging views. Down with negativity and complaining! Up with solutions and optimism!

DeleteFor sure!! I agree, it has been a good process to really get into many of theses topics and sort it all out. I have indeed learned much from everyone. Teaching can be a challenging road, and so we definitely need to always stay positive, and surround ourselves with inspiration and love for what we do.

Completely agree! I was a little unsure of this "phlogging" thing at first..but now I have really grown to appreciate it! It's fun knowing our classmates views on the issues we discuss and I also now recognize what a great resource blogs can be. What better way to get ideas than to learn from those who have already been through it!
